Why you should consider working with a physiotherapist during your pregnancy

Zoe Birch and I were introduced to each other by a mutual client. It was this lovely family’s second baby. I had worked with her and her husband in 2021/2 during their first pregnancy during the covid season. When they were pregnant again, She asked me if I could support her again in the Summer of 2025.

Zoe and I met up at a café in Putney on a very hot Thursday afternoon and had a great conversation. One I thought may be of interest to some parents-to-be so I asked if we could record a video to share some of the information that we discussed. Two weeks later our wonderful client had a positive (but very quick!) birth experience supported by myself and a fantastic homebirth team.

I’d worked with the team recently at another home birth (the midwives didn’t make it on time so I caught the baby but that a blog post for another day) and on the way to the birth I recall telling the taxi driver to do whatever was legal and necessary to get me there before baby arrived. I remember praying to the birth gods to ask them to make sure I didn’t miss the birth. As I leapt out the taxi at their front door (I can’t recall if the taxi had stopped) Dad opened the door and said “she’s just started calling out for you”. Phew! My wish was granted.  20 minutes later, baby arrived too. Another boy!

Here’s the video that Zoe and I created where we talk about the benefits of working with a physiotherapist during and after pregnancy.
